The Huntsville Strikers are kicking their way to the top of the U16 Girls Recreational Division in the Huronia District Soccer League. The Strikers’ current standing for the 2017 season is second place with four wins and three losses. On Wednesday, July 19, the Strikers played a home game at the Conroy Park field against Ramara, the leading team in the league, and held the game score 0-0 for the entire 90 minute game. Both teams showed great sportsmanship.
These two teams have gone back and forth with wins and losses. The first game played against Ramara, Huntsville lost but then won against them three weeks later. Last week’s game displayed the increased level of skill by the girls when going head to head with each other.
The Huntsville Strikers have another game in Bracebridge on July 26 and are back at home to play Wasaga Beach on August 9 before meeting Ramara on the McCulley South field on August 16 for their final game.
All of the girls have improved their foot work, defense and kicks over the season and work well at talking to one another to support each player by letting them know where to be and where to go to be first to the ball. Keep up the determination and great sportsmanship, girls!
