On Friday, October 17, 2017, just after 7:00am Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a vehicle crash on Echo Bay Rd and South Fairy Lake Rd in the town of Huntsville. Officers attended and found the occupants had left the scene. The windows were found smashed and other damage to a Honda CRV.
Investigation found that the Honda had been stolen in the City of Barrie. Central Region Canine along with Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended to assist in locating the suspects of the stolen vehicle.
Two Huntsville youths have since been located and face charges of Possession of the Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Property under $5000.00 under the Criminal Code of Canada. One of the youths faces further charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drug Substances Act.
Neither can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Investigation is ongoing.
