Town springs into action on road maintenance and repairs

From the Town of Huntsville

As the snow melts and temperatures rise, spring brings sunshine, longer days and the annual challenge of road maintenance. As the spring thaw continues, residents may notice common seasonal road conditions such as potholes, soft shoulders, frost heaves, and wet or muddy gravel roads – all signs that spring is officially here.

Town crews are hard at work addressing these issues, with extra resources in place to support the effort.

“Maintaining more than 385 kilometres of road after a long winter is a big job, but it’s one we prepare for every year,” says Brandon Hall, Acting Director of Operations at the Town of Huntsville. “Additional crews and equipment are lined up to help tackle repairs as quickly as possible, ensuring our roads are in the best possible condition for the season ahead.”

Drivers are reminded to adjust to changing road conditions and give crews space as they work. The Town appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as road maintenance continues throughout the season.

Take a good bit of ‘springing’ to save us, the driving public. A go over our roads and a person is happy they may be carrying a bit extra on the buttocks. The quality of the cars seating might be appreciated. And the state of the actual suspension of the vehicle can certainly help. The ability of the driver to slalom between obstacles is a plus.

But inevitable you will pound into a real beauty. A 10 out of 10, and hear a “Tut ” from the passenger. Your only defense is “There is no way I can miss them all!!”

And this is a year round performance, not just the spring Our roads suck.

It’s a big job! Keeping on top of the pot-holes. Thank you for getting it done.

Hope that the Town at long last addresses crumbling road issues on West Brown’s Road near Weeduck lake, and stops patching potholes, year after year.

They need to do a much better job than they are doing currently. I have damaged rims from the road conditions on Main Street.

If the Main Street of our town can damage your car, why would you want to visit Huntsville?

The road conditions have been poor for years and are getting considerably worse.
