From the Town of Huntsville
Spring is in the air and so are exciting new activities featured in the Town of Huntsville’s new Art, Culture & Recreation Guide.
Discover new art and culture experiences this season! The Algonquin Theatre is hosting an exciting lineup of movie nights and live performances, including the big hair and even bigger dance numbers featured in Grease and Hairspray and non-stop laughs with Ron James: Not Nearly Done Yet! Before the show, be sure to stop by Partners Hall, where the Huntsville Art Society continues to showcase stunning monthly exhibits.
If wedding bells are in your future, Muskoka Heritage Place offers beautiful historic charm to make your special day one to remember. The Pioneer Village reopens for the season on May 17, but there’s still plenty to explore before then! You can book the space for your next event, head out on a snowshoeing adventure or stop by the main building to visit the museum and gift shop – open all year round.
March Break (March 10–14) is packed with activities for kids and families, including the Canadian Raptor Conservancy Event and Nerf Capture the Flag for Teens at the Huntsville Public Library, March Break History Hunters Camp at Muskoka Heritage Place, and our Summit Centre Camp. Swimming and shinny are also great ways to burn off some energy during the break.
Make a splash at the brand-new Fun Swim Event at the Canada Summit Centre pool this spring! With the pool transformed into an exciting obstacle course, its part challenge, part adventure, and all fun. Families can also book private pool rentals, a great option for birthdays or special gatherings. Swimmers and families should be aware that the pool change rooms will be closed for construction, from June 1 through September following spring lessons. Accommodations for changing will be provided and full details can be found in the Guide and at Huntsville.ca.
Youth and adult fitness programs return this season with the popular Multi-Fitness Program Discount, plus new offerings like Qigong, Chair Dance, Walk Fit, Wake up and Move and more. Express yourself through Art, or Adult Acting classes or channel your inner dancing queen through Ballroom Dancing. As winter leaves Huntsville, so does the ice at the Jack Bionda Arena, bringing a chance to hit the arena floor for pickleball, badminton, and inline skating. Grab a group of friends and do your own thing during Open Floor time. Not ready to hang up your skates? The Don Lough Arena still has ice available for rent along with a full lineup of programming. Visit Huntsville.ca for details and schedules.
The Huntsville Public Library is offering an exciting lineup of educational and wellness programs this season, including prenatal support, brain health workshops, and an Intro to AI course for those who are curious about artificial intelligence and how it’s shaping today’s world. Youth can get hands-on with creative and engaging programs like the LEGO Builders Club, where young minds can build and create, or Minecraft Mondays, perfect for those who love to design, explore, and problem-solve in the virtual world. The STEAM Club continues to inspire kids with fun, educational activities that combine science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. With so much to offer, there’s a program to help everyone learn, grow, and stay healthy.
Many of the programming and events held in Huntsville are led or supported by dedicated volunteers. Congratulations to the outstanding individuals and organizations honoured through the Town’s 2024 Community Recognition Program. Learn more about these inspiring recipients in the Guide and stay tuned at Huntsville.ca for additional details. A heartfelt thank you to all who took the time to nominate them.
