A woman recently had to appear in court after attempting to smuggle tobacco into Beaver Creek correctional facility.
In a Bracerbidge courtroom, Jessica Pupo, 41, pled guilty to attempting to bring contraband into the Gravenhurst facility.
The court heard that Pupo and another woman attended Beaver Creek on Sept. 2, 2024, for a public visitation of inmates. Corrections officers had reason to search the vehicle they arrived in and subsequently to pull Pupo out of her visit. Upon searching Pupo the officers found a quantity of tobacco taped to her leg.
She was ultimately fined $250.
