Thousands of customers without power in the area

Following a severe thunderstorm and high winds that struck Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday morning, leaving downed trees in its wake, thousands of customers are without power.

Hydro One is still assessing outages, and some areas are reporting estimated restoration times of 4 p.m. today.

Power fails all the time in Muskoka.

Even on nice days in the summer.

Much worse than in the past so backup power is a must.

Backup power doesn’t have to be a noisy, stinking, deadly CO spewing, expensive generator.

For $500 on sale and promotion you can get a silent, non-emitting 1500W pure sine inverter and 1.3 kWh LFP battery that will run your gas furnace or your fridge for 16 hrs.

    Or both for 8.

Make sure the inverter is the pure sine type or it could damage electronics.

Also runs the router, lights, laptops, phones etc.

Pays for itself after a few 4+ hour outages by avoiding throwing out spoiled food.

No big lump outside. All in the basement.

    Change over in seconds.

Charge with the car for a week or more if needed.

Only needed to do that once so far. Last year during the ice storm.

Add another 1.3 kWh for another $250 each.

I could expand the battery capacity but more likely will just get an EV.

Many EVs have 120V outlets now. Giant EV batteries can power your home for a week or more.
