The Monarch presents the first live show of 2022 at the Algonquin Theatre

Submitted by The Monarch Performing Arts Studio

The Monarch Performing Arts Studio (The Monarch), in association with The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HFA), is thrilled to announce the first live show of 2022 at the Algonquin Theatre.

The Last Five Years, a Tony Award-winning musical by Jason Robert Brown, is an emotionally powerful and intimate two-person musical with an unconventional structure of two separate timelines within one show. With the two characters sharing their love story, one from the beginning of their love, the other from the end, and meeting in the same moment only one time—the middle of the show.

Director Autumn Smith is excited to partner with the The Monarch and HFA to present this beautiful show at the Algonquin Theatre. “This deceptively simple piece excavates the lives of two people trying to navigate the world around them, each other, and themselves.”

With musical direction by Alana Nuedling and starring Jim Kelly and Mallary Davenport, this moving, emotional musical invites the audience to share in the greatest of journeys: a love story.

The show opens Friday, February 25 and runs for seven performances over two weekends.

Throughout the last two years our world has gained a greater appreciation for artists and their creative endeavours. We are honoured to bring life, love, and music back to the stage.
