The build-up to the Crokicurl Rink at River Mill Park continues!

The Crokicurl Rink at River Mill Park is taking shape through a combination of hard work and some luck from Mother Nature.

Starting from the ground up to create a level, framed base, and securing a tarp allows the flooding process to build a smooth, flat surface with a little time and patience.

The crew working at River Mill have to be ready to take advantage of fortuitous weather conditions to determine when flooding can occur. This has proven to be a challenge this January but things are looking up with colder temperatures on the way. A good base is in place, the ring has been installed and the divot in the middle is accounted for.

Of course, the goal is to provide a unique experience for all those visiting River Mill Park this winter and especially on January 31, when the Huntsville Curling Club celebrates Curling Day in Canada with an official opening of the rink and the chance for the public to join in and try this combo sport.

Organizers would love to see you there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share the experience with you.
