The Stisted Fall Fair returns for its 138th anniversary on Sept. 9 at the Stisted Fairgrounds, just off Etwell Road (follow the signs).
The “little country fair with the big country heart” will celebrate the area’s pioneer heritage with arts and crafts, photography, and locally grown vegetables, all of which will be on display in the fair hall.
The hall dates back to the 19th century and has been lovingly restored and cared for by a group of volunteers. On display will be exhibits entered by both direct decedents from the first years of the fair’s inception in 1885 as well as those new to the community.
There will be a horse show, livestock displays, and games according to age categories for all ages, including sackcloth, 3-legged, and wheelbarrow races, an egg toss, tug of war, ladies’ nail driving, and crosscut saw contests, just to name a few of the events planned.
Entry forms and fair books are available at various locations in town, including Cavalcade Color Lab and Valley Feeds. Entries will be accepted at the fairgrounds on Friday, September 8 from 3-7 pm.
On Sat Sept 9, the fairgrounds will open at 9 am. The concession booth opens at 9:30, serving coffee, tea, and snacks. There will be a barbecue at 11:00 am. The Horse show begins at 10:30 am. The exhibit hall will open once judging is completed, by noon at the latest.
Games and contests begin at 12 noon. All are welcome.

Regarding Mr. Duggan’s comments about our signage directing folks to the Stisted Fair. The signage was indeed correct. Mr. Duggan was driving towards the Aspdin Rd from Domtar Rd. The sign at the intersection was pointing to the left which is the more direct route to the fairgrounds from that point. Unfortunately Mr Duggan missed the sign at the corner of Aspdin Rd and Yearly Rd that directs folks down the Yearley Rd , past the dump, to the Etwell Rd. Mister Duggan left 2 abusive phone messages on our home phone at 11:40 am of Fair Day, in which he called us “ idiots “ and admitted to ripping the sign out and throwing it in the ditch. The reason that we didn’t answer the phone was because we were at the fair.
While his messages were upsetting, we ( volunteers ) will try to improve upon the size of our road signage for next year.
We drove to your fair. There is very poor signage. One sign directs you the Wrong way . We drove around for an hour wasting our time and gas. I won’t go back ever. We finally got to the gate for the fair and told the guy at the gate about the signs then left. Didn’t feel like going to a fall fair anymore.
