With some of the COVID-19 restrictions lifted, the Town of Huntsville is offering some services to residents once again.

“We are offering facility use and programming that meets the rules and regulations under the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Greg Pilling, manager of sales and customer service with the Town. “Staff have worked hard to ensure a safe environment for patrons of the Canada Summit Centre. The customer service desk is open seven days a week and is available to assist residents via phone, email and in person, if you have booked an appointment.”

Staff are available every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to answer your questions.

The walking track is now available from 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., seven days a week, by appointment only. There are several time slots each day available for runners, too. Residents can book spots online here.

The Centennial Pool opens at 6:30 am for lap swim and fitness programs.

“The pool is now open for lap swims and aquafitness and our patrons are so excited to be back,” says Morven Barnes, manager of aquatics. “Access to the water keeps them mobile.”

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9 for the next two weeks of drop-in programs. “We also have a special family rental spot on Saturdays after the leisure swim,” added Barnes.

Children’s swimming lessons are a go again, as well. The Town will be running a session in April and another session in May, assuming that the pool is able to remain open. Registration for lessons opens Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 a.m.

Also for the kids, Spring Break Day Camp registration begins on March 17 at 9:30 a.m.

The Jack Bionda floor surface is available for rent for indoor activities, seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and singles-play pickleball is returning to the Jack arena floor—check Huntsville.ca for dates and playing times.

The Town of Huntsville is offering some exciting virtual presentations on horticultural therapy. Click here for more information.

For information about and to register for all programs, visit the Town’s website and go to the recreation and programs page here, or call the Canada Summit Centre’s customer service desk at 705-789-6421 ext. 0 or email summitcentre@huntsville.ca.

“Staff are working hard to ensure everyone’s safety and following all COVID-19 pandemic rules and regulations,” said Pilling. “We will continue to monitor the pandemic and add programs and recreation opportunities as they are permitted by the province and our local health unit.”
