On Sunday, February 12, a group of Huntsville runners came together to participate in The SportLab’s third Annual 5km fun run called ‘Cold Hands, Warm Hearts’. Participants ranged from beginners to the best competitive runners, including local MMA fighter Kyle ‘The Monster’ Nelson.
Dr. Lowell Greib started off by welcoming everyone to the event and thanked everyone by saying, “it is pretty nice that we as frequent runners in this community get to run together in an event like this for fun, so thank you for coming out”.
The weather was perfect for running this year with near-zero temperatures compared to last year’s -31C weather. Twenty participants and one pooch made the 5km run around the outskirts of Huntsville. The run was an early celebration of Valentine’s Day and, on a map, the race route looks like a heart. The runners were all dressed in red to show their Valentine’s spirit.

As the runners made their way back to The SportLab, they posed for a group photo, and enjoyed treats and a hot beverage. Among the door prizes were race entries to an upcoming 10km run and half-marathon in Collingwood.
