Single-vehicle collision closes down South Mary Lake Road in Huntsville

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual with impaired-related charges after responding to a single-vehicle collision in the Town of Huntsville.

Last Wednesday, at 9:21 p.m., the Huntsville OPP were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on northbound Highway 11 near Stephenson Road 2. The vehicle struck a guardrail and went into the ditch before fleeing the scene. As officers were responding to the call, a second report was received regarding a vehicle striking a hydro pole on South Mary Lake Road.

Police, Huntsville Fire Department, and Muskoka Ambulance arrived on the scene, and the driver was transported to the hospital by EMS with minor injuries. Upon investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired-related offenses.

South Mary Lake Road was closed for over 3 hours and later re-opened.

As a result of the investigation, Sophie NOALL, 20-year-old of Port Sydney, has been charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.

The OPP reminds drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
