On Friday, October 13, 2017 at approximately 8:50am, a female student was walking to a local public school when she was approached on Centre Street North in the town of Huntsville by a male driving a car. The male asked her to get into the car and said he was going to drive her to school. The male referenced having permission from her parents. The female student did not get in the vehicle and the male drove away.
The male was described as wearing a grey hoodie, approximately 60-70 years of age, and possibly having a white scruffy beard. The male was also described as bald on the top of his head with white / grey hair on the sides.
The vehicle he was driving was described as an older grey / silver four-door sedan with rust at the bottom.
Huntsville OPP is currently investigating a similar incident which occurred on October 4, 2017 on Main Street West near Station Road where it was described that the driver of a grey car approached three young girls and asked them to get in. The girls did not engage in conversation with this male and immediately ran home.
Police believe that these incidents may be related due to the similarities of the suspect and suspect vehicle.
Anyone who may have seen this vehicle or knows who this person could be is asked to contact Huntsville OPP.
Huntsville OPP would like to remind parents to be diligent in speaking to their children about not approaching vehicles unless they know the owner, and practice “what if” situations should someone approach them.

Having a private personal word as a “secret password” can help,
especially when anyone citing they have Parent’s permission.
It worked with my kids in elementary school. Just a thought.
There is always going to be situations kids need to know
how to deal with better prepared than not.
Children in Barrie and Toronto deserve the same level of safety as our children in Muskoka !! This is a global scourge which needs more community involvement to ensure our children the freedom and safety they deserve !!
We think our kids are “way up north”..away from the big bad, Cities…..but they are not! Tell kids to write down the license plate numbers (or memorize them)…and report to parents, and or police as soon as possible…walk in groups..and don’t trust people who tell you their parents told them to give their kids a ride “anywhere!” Try to never walk alone! Call to anyone close for help..or who may hear calls for help (someone may be closer than you know.) Make lots of noise to attract attention if anyone persists in trying to get you into their vehicle.
I’m an worried this man needs to be found and taken off the streets! Our children shouldn’t have to worry about going to the park or to school!!!! This is not Toronto or Barrie we need this man to be dealt with because this isn’t right!!!!!!!!!!
