It seems things keep getting worse for Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement.
Today, Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer issued a statement saying that he has asked Clement to resign from the Conservative caucus in light of additional information obtained indicating that Clement’s sexting scandal was not an isolated incident.
On Tuesday, Clement issued a statement admitting that over the last three weeks he had sent sexually explicit photos as well as a video of himself to what he thought was a consenting adult female. Clement said the person or persons on the receiving end of his online correspondence were extorting him for money. He said the RCMP was investigating the incident. Clement also indicated that he would be resigning from his role as Justice critic as well as from Commons committees, particularly one where its members are privy to national intelligence and security information.
Clement apologized to his family, colleagues and constituents, and asked for privacy for his family.
“I recognize now that I have gone down a wrong path and have exercised very poor judgment,” he said, adding that he is committed to seeking the help and treatment he needs in his personal life “to make sure this will not happen again while also continuing to discharge my duties as a Member of Parliament.”
Following news of Clement’s sexting and extortion scandal, many women took to social media stating that they were not surprised with the turn of events.
“I took him at his word that this was an isolated incident. Since then, there have been numerous reports of other incidents, allegations, so in that respect I’ve asked Tony to resign from caucus so that he can respond to these allegations,” stated Scheer outside the House of Commons.
Clement has not responded to the latest turn of events. No longer being part of the Conservative Party means Clement would be representing his constituency of Parry Sound-Muskoka as an Independent Member of Parliament.

Mr. Clement should not be part of any government parties, and surely not represent Parry Sound in any way.
