The Rotary Club of North Muskoka has announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Huntsville Santa Claus Parade is postponed to 2022.
The decision comes after discussions with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and considerations related to pandemic measures, like event capacity limits and contact tracing requirements, plus the volatility of rules around public gatherings amid the continued public health crisis.
But there is still community holiday cheer to be had this season.
Santa’s Light Up the Night Contest and Tour will return for its second year.
The event welcomes Huntsville and area community members to sign up their houses or businesses by Monday, November 15, and then decorate their homes and shops with holiday lights by Friday, November 26.
The public can then take a self-guided holiday lights tour of mapped locations across Huntsville, Novar, Port Sydney, and Utterson until Friday, December 10.
Members of the public can cast their votes for Best House and Best Business online at rotaryclubofnorthmuskoka.com. Santa will announce the winners Friday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. during a special online event.
Contact [email protected] to register your home or business for the contest and tour.

I would like to see more lights than ever before. Then once Christmas is over all lights minus Santa and his crew, because he has gone back to the North Pole, be left on until the end of March. We need all the light and good cheer we can get through this coming winter and time in history. Life is good. Let’s celebrate it.
Cheers.
