Wayback Wednesday, sponsored by Jamie Lockwood, broker/owner of Sutton Group Muskoka Realty, with family roots of more than 100 years in Huntsville and Almaguin

The photo below was taken on August 30, 1978. We’re guessing it was the inauguration of Sam the Record Man in downtown Huntsville. From a single flagship store in Toronto, Sam the Record Man expanded significantly during the 1960s and 1970s, growing into a national chain with franchises across Canada.
Although the retail chain is gone, the iconic neon signs were preserved and reinstalled at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square (now Sankofa Square), keeping the brand’s memory alive.
Does anyone remember the store in Huntsville?
