Don’t miss your chance to captain a tub at this year’s DockFest

Rub-a-dub-dub three men in a tub; well, not exactly. It’s one man or one woman and it’s a whole lot of fun.

Back by popular demand is Rotary DockFest, presented by Pipefusion. For those who don’t know, DockFest is a parade and bathtub race extravaganza. It takes place on Saturday, July 8. Organizers say there are a few extra tubs if others want to join.

“We have brought a few more bathtubs out of storage and are looking for a few more businesses to step forward and take on the challenge of our dramatic river course in hopes of raising the trophy,” said Rotarian Drew Markham. The day starts with the always entertaining ‘Bathtub Parade’ down Main Street at 11 a.m. The races will follow from noon until mid-afternoon with live entertainment, a beer garden, food and kids’ activities. As a special treat this year, between-race entertainment will be provided by some of the Huntsville’s Got Talent finalists. Following the races there will be a concert at the Rotary Bandshell, with Huntsville Festival of the Arts presenting The Jo Nathan Band. The event is free for the whole family.

Proceeds from tub sponsorships will be shared between Fairvern Nursing Home and Huntsville Hospice.

Mark it on your calendar. We’ll see you there!
