The Rotary Club of Huntsville is proud to support end-of-life care in Huntsville/Lake of Bays through their recent donation of $6,000 to Hospice Huntsville on February 15, 2017. Rotary Club President, Jennifer Jerrett, presented the cheque to Bev Lashbrook, Executive Director of Hospice Huntsville.
Funds for this project were raised through proceeds from the annual Rotary Christmas Party attended by local club and community members who bid on a wide range of interesting auction items such as in-home hosted dinners, social outings and a variety of items donated by the members themselves. This donation will assist in the purchase of Murphy Beds to furnish some of the resident bedrooms in the residential hospice, Algonquin Grace.
In her thank you to the Rotary Club of Huntsville, Executive Director of Hospice Huntsville, Bev Lashbrook, said, “The care and comfort of our family members is a priority while they are visiting their loved one at Hospice Huntsville and when Murphy Beds are installed within close proximity to the hospital bed, they provide comfort and support to the dying patient and allows the family member increased comfort while sleeping.”

The Rotary Club of Huntsville also continued their contributions to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and presented another installment on February 22 towards their $100,000 commitment made in 2013 for the purchase of a CAT scanner. The first contribution of $20,000 was made in January of 2014, followed by yearly donations of $10,000 for the next eight years, ending in 2022.
This contribution was raised through fundraising efforts of the Club with their annual Christmas Rotary Auction that turns items donated by businesses and individuals throughout the community into cash, allowing the Club to carry on their charitable works.
