From the Rotary Club of Huntsville
With the kids back at school and summer coming to an end, there is at least one good thing to look forward to. That’s right, Rotary Super Jackpot TV Bingo returns on YourTV, with the first game back being broadcast on Tuesday, September 17, at 7 p.m.
The hour-long event is presented on subsequent Tuesdays on YourTV channels 10 and 700 (channel 13 in Parry Sound). The Bingo fundraiser represents one of the major fundraisers for the Rotary Club of Huntsville.
Guaranteed prize money presented each evening is $1,500, spread over five games, with the opportunity for players to win the Super Jackpot prize of $4,500 or the Junior Jackpot prize of $1,000. This Jackpot prize is the largest in our area. Since Rotary Bingo’s inception in 1999, well over two million dollars in winnings have been distributed to players from the community. At the same time, the Rotary Club has been able to raise important dollars to assist in their community outreach initiatives, including the construction of the skatepark, the Ross Kirwin River Mill Bandshell, and recent improvements to the Hunter’s Bay Trail, including the replacement of over forty benches along the trail. In 2019 players in Parry Sound were brought into the mix, with the co-operation of the Parry Sound Rotary Club, allowing players from both communities to share in the winnings.
Terry Fraser was the Jackpot winner in 2021.
TV Bingo is only available through the support of Rotary’s community partners at Cogeco/Your TV. For the past 25 years, Cogeco and its local Your TV staff have provided manpower, air time, and technical expertise to keep the games available to happy local players.
This is a reminder for those who play regularly or for new players that tickets are just $10 and can be purchased at the downtown Circle K store, Brunel Mart, West Road Convenience, Shoppers Drug Mart, and both Capstone Petro Canada locations. If you do not have Cogeco cable but want to win prize money, cards can be purchased, and you can play live at Huntsville’s Boston Pizza and the Canadian Legion.
In Parry Sound cards are available at the Circle K’s on Bowes and Church Streets and at both Canadian Tire Gas Bars on Joseph and Louisa Streets. A new outlet this year is the Hillside Variety, located on William Street. Cards for the September 17 game should be in all outlets, in both communities, by September 10.
