Rotarians help keep Huntsville’s streets clean

On June 2, the Rotary Club of Huntsville ran its annual litter pickup. The environmental project involved teams of Rotarians picking up garbage along Highway 60 from Centre Street North to Muskoka Road 3, and along Golf Course Road. In total, approximately 20 bags of trash were collected from the side of the road.

Cameron White, Chair of Rotary’s Environment Committee, has run the initiative for 17 years straight.

He noted, “I’m always amazed at the wide variety of garbage one finds in the ditches. Anything from disposable coffee cups and food wrappers, to heavy construction material. We even found a number of old rusted auto parts. All in all, it was great team-work today by everybody. Even many cars passing by would wave and give a honk of support.”

Thanks to a morning of hard work by a group of dedicated Rotarians, Huntsville’s roads just became a bit cleaner.
