Sorry Randy you didn’t get invited to the BQ AT THE Fords cottage,We are proud to have our country’s leaders here in Muskoka.i live close by and there was very little disturbance of the road closures. Hats off to our police officers and the public that made this one of a kind event.
Great Job OPP! Sonja your comments are right on.
While it’s understandable to be mindful of government spending, hosting the premiers here is a real boost to our local economy. Events like this shine a national spotlight on Huntsville. It reminds people across Canada of the beauty and hospitality of our region, which can lead to future tourism.
Meeting in person helps build stronger working relationships between provinces, which can lead to more effective decisions in the future.A productive meeting can have long-term value that far outweighs the short-term inconvenience to us, the local residents.
Finally, Deerhurst and Huntsville already have a strong reputation for hosting important events like the G8 summit. That kind of credibility builds long-term opportunity for our region.
Mr. Bell I will not go low as seems to be happening in your commentary. I actually feel for those vacationing, cottage or live in the vicinity of Deerhurst trying to get around and or enjoy themselves. I lived the dream of the G-8 comedy show and witnessed first hand and saw the insane amount of money spent. Yes it is $$$$ to the community but there is a bigger picture. To just clear the air I was not a fan of the “Blockade” it was a black eye for Canada on the world stage and our Prime Minister Failed greatly this was mishandled beyond belief. Everyone enjoy the rest of the summer !!
George. Think about what the traffic ty up in Toronto would be ! A total night mare. Where is the press staying ? Staff etc. Where do they eat ? I see $ for local businesses
I agree with Randy
With all the government office space WE pay for in Toronto why can’t they have their meetings there? The huge police presence that WE pay for is totally unnecessary
This is just another excuse for a very expensive photo op
Randy. Your complaint is total BS also. Go back and read the story again. Traffic is only affected near Deerhurst. Plus the resort is open to guests staying there. So how does this affect tourism ? You were likely okay with the Freedom Conoy crippling Ottawa for 3 weeks. Correct ?
This is total BS as a local making a living in the summer this is an insult !!! getting around at the peak of our earning period these public servants/elected officials need to remember who they actually serve. I really would not want to be a vacationer in this are at the moment
