Recognize a loved one, a volunteer or community supporter with Huntsville’s seat dedication program

When you want to recognize or remember someone who has played an important role in your life, your family, or your community, or commemorate a special occasion, there are limited ways to make a lasting statement.

Beginning this week, the Town of Huntsville is offering a prominent way for you to let all of Huntsville know with its seat dedication program, which has relaunched at the Algonquin Theatre and has been joined by seats at the Don Lough and Jack Bionda arenas.

The Town decided to reintroduce and expand the program, which was in existence in the early years of the Algonquin Theatre, after they received interest from community members, says Kari Lambe, Director of Community Services.

Here’s how it works: The cost to dedicate a seat will be $250 on a first come first serve basis until all seats are dedicated. You can choose any seat in the three facilities that hasn’t already been dedicated to someone else and the dedication will remain in place for the lifespan of the chair. Currently, the Algonquin Theatre has 155 seats available, the Don Lough has 1354 seats available and the Jack Bionda has 443 seats available.

At the theatre and the Don Lough, plaques will be placed on the arm of the chairs. At the Jack Bionda the plaques will be placed on the back of the chair where the number is located.

You can dedicate a seat to a loved one, volunteer, community member or someone else important to you; to commemorate a special occasion or recognize a team; or just to support theatre or sport in Huntsville — the funds raised will go to the theatre reserve fund for future capital projects, or to the sports memorabilia fund at the Canada Summit Centre to expand the displays in future.

“What a great way to recognize someone and contribute back to your community,” says Lambe.
