It’s interesting to hear that the town removed the dock in that location. It sounds like they were busy removing many docks around the town. There was one in my neighbourhood too. But gone now.
There was always a dock in this location for public access and for the neighbours without waterfront. The town just removed it. It needs to be replaced. So stating that there could be environmental impact is not relevant as it has been accessible for many, many years. This is similar to other locations in Huntsville, such as Lakewood Park. Not just waterfront owners should have access to waterfront.
It is unclear of the location of this proposed town dock and what amenities will be present. The environmental impact to adding more boats to this area of the lake, which is already busy, is significant. Local residents know there is significant erosion that occurs along Echo Bay shoreline due to boats that create large waves. This needs to be controlled first. You must already be aware that some residents have spent large amounts of money to control erosion on a shoreline the is clay/sand based.
Before going forward with this proposal, will the town have to complete a natural resources assessment, the same as all residents on the bay must do?
Who is paying for this? All residents who live on waterfront property pay a disproportionate amount of property tax for the benefit of water access. Lastly, can local residents be assured there will not be a negative impact to their property value due to additional traffic and parking along nearby streets?
I agreed with Rose .
The town def. needs more public docks for people to use. I wonder how we make suggestions for other places?
This is certainly not much notice if the town really does want input ?
