Prime Minister Mark Carney to meet with premiers in Huntsville

When Ontario Premier Doug Ford hosts Canada’s premiers in Huntsville between July 21-23, 2025, Prime Minister Mark Carney will also be in attendance.

Ford is Chair of the Council of the Federation, and he will host the 2025 Summer Meeting of Canada’s Premiers from July 21 to 23 at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville.

Today, U.S. President Trump announced that a blanket 35 % tariff will be imposed on goods imported from Canada starting August 1, 2025. This decision comes on top of previously implemented tariffs like auto parts and industrial metals.

In response, Premier Doug Ford took to social media today and stated: “In the face of President Trump’s latest threat, we need to come together. We need a plan on how Canada will respond and how we’ll protect our workers, businesses and communities. I’ve asked and Prime Minister Carney has agreed to an in-person First Ministers’ Meeting on Tuesday, July 22 in Huntsville ahead of the Council of the Federation meeting with Canada’s premiers. Together, we’re going to remain united as we protect Ontario and protect Canada,” he stated.

This is wonderful. Not only have I lived, cottaged, worked and played in and around Huntsville and Deerhurst throughout my life, but it will be a lovely spot to host our Prime Minister and show him a bit of our magical place on earth. I regularly take my boat to Huntsville from Penn. Lake, and past Deerhurst in summer, as well as going to dine at DH often. Such a shame The Antler Steakhouse burnt down in April,. That is the restaurant my parents took me too in the late 1970’s when it was called The Flying Dutchman when we went camping at Arrowhead PP. Go team Canada!

Hope they all have a productive meeting. For Canada to succeed as one democratic federation, it must include respectful true partnership with the Indigenous people who have been stewards of this land. President Trump will do what he wants.Canadians must work together continuing the hard work to protect and build on what we value. No simple magic solutions.

Thank goodness we have a decent and experienced man willing to take on the responsibility of leading this country. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to deal with the insanity of the Trump administration. Three years can’t pass quickly enough for me!

That’s two people I dont want to meet unless you can talk some sense into them. Ford bungles everything and Carney is robbing us blind just like Trudeau. No budget yet???? But he is spending money. Where is the money coming from? Yes US.

I think people who complain about Mark Carney arent subtle enough to understand what hes actually doing.

Dougie: for goodness sake PLEASE pull the plug on the hydro electric power we are exporting to the USA

All that elbows up BS was just election propaganda. Carney is impotent and is useless. He has no ability to lead or defend our country. I blame all the brainwashed Canadians who sit and absorb the CBC narrative.

  8. Jacqueline Howell says:

I am just wondering what happened to Premier Ford’s idea of cutting off electricity to the North east US. As I recall it had “T” pay attention to our country.. Too bad it wouldn’t affect Washington DC
We must stand united and it is going to require sacrifices Our “wants” will be different to support our needs
