Pine Glen student, recipient of a scholarship award from Hope Arises, designs Limited Edition Orange shirt for Sept 30

Layla Sewell, a grade six student from Pine Glen Public School, has been chosen as the recipient of a scholarship award from Hope Arises Project Inc. 

On June 20, 2025, at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville, Layla and 249 students were participants in an interactive educational Indigenous Day activity.

Among the 15 Indigenous stations students experienced, one involved designing a T-shirt for National Orange Shirt Day and National Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30.

Layla’s design depicts a young girl waving goodbye and reflects the children of residential schools.
