The Huntsville Otters PeeWee Rep Classic tournament was held from November 24-26 at the Don Lough arena. Eight teams participated in two Divisions, A & B.

The Huntsville PeeWee Rep Otters participated in the B Division and played their first game on Friday, November 24 against the Caledonia Thunder. The team did not come together well and fell short in their opener, losing 1-4 to their opponents.

By the next morning, the team had rallied and played a close game against the Petawawa Patriots. Huntsville led by one to take the win 2-1.

The Otters’ Saturday afternoon game had Huntsville meeting the Porcupine Jr Gold Kings. With the game tied at two, the Otters got the puck past the goalie for the win 3-2.

In Sunday morning’s semi-final game, the Otters faced off against the Temiskaming Shores Puckhounds who had won all of their games over the weekend. But in their match up with the Otters, the tables turned: Huntsville played hard and dominated the scoreboard for the win, 5-1.

Huntsville moved on to the championship game against the Caledonia Thunder, who beat the home team in their first game of the tournament. But, once again, the Otters did not back down and won it all 5-0 with goaltender Sam Thrale earning a shutout. Top scorers for the championship game were Hunter Crawford, Lucas Sallmen and Aidan MacMillan.

“We played good teams and never gave them a chance to feel like they were in the game,” said Coach Greg MacMillan. “Our goal tending was excellent, the defense played strong and the forwards worked well together to create lots of opportunities. There were contributions from the entire team over the weekend, every player deserves credit for the teams’ success.”
