Ah yes, the good old days….when the “common folks” were still welcome at the resort.

I have a great memory of attending a fancy, Saturday night dinner/dance there with a group of friends, in the very early 60’s….going over on the original Bigwin Ferry, with its long service captain at the helm and dancing ’til after midnight, to the music of a wonderful, large Orchestra ( impressively wearing white dinner jackets)

When the music stopped, we lingered, letting the ferry clear the crowd. We wandered the impressive buildings, awed by the fact such a grand facility was available, on an island, in the wilds of Muskoka.
We were the last ones to leave and had a great conversation with our Captain….who, in retrospect, must have had an inkling that Bigwin’s days were numbered. It closed just a couple of years later.
