Each week, Huntsville’s own Grant Nickalls will inspire us, entertain us, make us laugh or perhaps cry, but always he will remind us why Huntsville is the best place on earth to call home.
This week in Our Town, Grant on plans in the works to shut down Huntsville’s Main Street for the summer in 2019, complete with grass, as a practice run for construction work in 2020. What do you think of that idea?
UPDATE, April2, 2019: Happy April Fool’s Day! 😉

Yes, happy belated April Fools! 🙂
I have so many questions about how this would work for a whole summer season; but one is how much water would it take to keep the grass alive? Would it not be better to have a pedestrian boulevard that allows patios for restaurants, music, kiosks. Not sure grass will entice people to come downtown, find parking and walk, but patios might.
But I might be responding to an interesting April Fool’s prank.
Great idea Grant!!!!
John Cowan managed to snow the Main St for a cross country ski race, I see no reason why we shouldn’t grass the Main St.
Got to love Photoshop!!!!
you better wear shoes . it sounds like the perfect dog park.
Happy April 1st Grant…
