About the Show
Come From Away is a critically acclaimed musical with book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The production has received 37 award nominations and 13 wins, including Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards and Outstanding Musical at the Drama Desk Awards.
Based on a true story, the musical tells of the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, which welcomed thousands of stranded airline passengers on September 11, 2001. What began as an ordinary day became an extraordinary moment of generosity, compassion, and human connection. Through music, humour, and heart, the story celebrates how people can come together in the face of uncertainty.
This community theatre production will be directed by Jocelyn Bell-Summersby, a respected local theatre artist with more than 30 years of experience.
“I’m very excited to bring this production to our community,” says Director Jocelyn Bell-Summersby. “It will highlight the talented folks that live here as well as the importance of being part of such a special community like Muskoka. Not only is the storytelling in this production outstanding but the characters that are brought to life on stage will be ones that will stay close with us for years to come.”
