No charges to be laid in Brunel Road accident

An OPP Technical Collision Investigator and a Traffic Reconstructionist have completed their investigation into the accident on Brunel Road that killed Seungah Kim. The OPP said that as a result of the investigation, no charges will be laid.
Last week, Kim’s husband, Mike Talbot, wrote on his Facebook page that he forgives the driver and explained what forgiveness means to him:
“Forgiveness is a very wide-sweeping term. Forgiveness does not imply fault. Forgiveness eases the feelings of guilt. It eases the “what ifs” and the “if I would haves.” I was 150 miles away and I am asking those questions. I am not forgiving the driver because it was his fault. It wasn’t. Accident means nobody is to blame. I am forgiving him because he is more than likely asking them as well, and I want to try to address them. That is all.”
There was an outpouring of support for Talbot and their daughter Gina following the accident, with a flower memorial placed at the site of the accident and contributions to a GoFundMe page that totalled more than $26,000.

    I agree.

I have always been anxious about Brunel Rd…whether driving, walking or biking.
It would have been a good thing if they had taken the slight “hill” out of the road on the approach to the Main Street, when they had it all torn up not so long ago.
Sidewalks, traffic lights, slower speed limit, police presence with ticketing, would all help.

  2. Much media, no news. I’m curious (maybe so I don’t become another statistic) about how this accident happened? The police must have it all figured out and it would be instructive for the future, might even guide decision making by all who use this area, to know exactly where and how this happened. Was it visibility issues as I sort of suspect or ice covered areas, traffic, lighting, it would be nice to see a full report somewhere.

We can’t learn from accidents and mistakes without the factual data.
