New urban arts festival to bring Backstreet cool to downtown Huntsville

Graffiti artists, buskers, hip-hop musicians and more will be coming together for a new festival in downtown Huntsville this summer. The Backstreet Urban Arts Festival, an initiative of Huntsville Festival of the Arts, is slated for Saturday, July 23 from 12-4pm.

The Festival began thinking about the idea when Nuit Blanche North organizers announced that they would be taking a hiatus in 2016, and originally thought they would hold the new event on the second Saturday in July as Nuit Blanche North has been. (Read about Nuit Blanche North’s hiatus on Doppler here.)

Details are still in the works, but area artists and buskers should watch for a call for proposals in the coming weeks. The festival will include a variety of hands-on activities, music and, of course, urban art.

Watch for details on the Huntsville Festival of the Arts website or Facebook page.
