New education fund for high school students living in south and central Almaguin

Muskoka Community Foundation is excited to announce the addition of a new education fund available for students living in the South and Central Almaguin region.

The South and Central Almaguin Education Fund is intended to support high school students, residing in South and Central Almaguin, who due to financial constraints may not have the opportunity to attend a post-secondary education institution.

To be eligible, individuals must be a high school student residing in South or Central Almaguin and attending high school either in Almaguin or Muskoka. The applicant must be furthering their education at a post-secondary level which may include attendance at an accredited university, college, trade school or other accredited institution which leads to a degree, diploma or certificate upon completion.

Muskoka Community Foundation’s Executive Director, Lynn DeCaro, notes that “the deadline for South and Central Almaguin Education Award is November 15th. Successful applicants will be notified by December 15th. This early notification is intended to encourage students to apply to post-secondary institutions, knowing that upon acceptance to the institution of their choice they will have the funds to support their first year at school.”

Students are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in funding.

Applicants are encouraged to visit their school’s Guidance department or visit Muskoka Community Foundation’s website at www.muskokacommunityfoundation.ca to learn more about the application process.
