New art exhibit at Canada Summit Centre: The Barn Raising Project

The Town of Huntsville is proud to present The Barn Raising Project, a new, free art exhibit at the Canada Summit Centre, on until April 2.

Presented by the Huronia Branch of the Ontario Rug Hooking Craft Guild in collaboration with the Simcoe County Museum, The Barn Raising Project is a travelling exhibit comprised of forty hooked rugs that capture the beauty of rural barns across Canada and share the stories of how these landscapes have had an impact on the artists.

“This is a stunning exhibit, and we are very fortunate to have been chosen as one of its stops,” said Teri Souter, Huntsville’s Manager of Arts, Culture and Heritage. “You do not need to be into rug hooking – you don’t even need to be into art – to appreciate the artists’ skill and to reflect on the echoes of Canada’s history and our rural culture on display here. This is very appropriate for Canada’s 150th birthday.”

The works are not for sale, but an accompanying guide is available at the Customer Service counter for $15.

The art space at the Canada Summit Centre is free and is open seven days a week, whenever the Centre is open.

Having rural roots, this exhibit was very meaningful. Worth a visit.
