Founder Kim O’Grady and her New 2 U Muskoka Team are excited to have you join them for Sip, Show & Shop Muskoka Style! This exciting event will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Canvas Brewery located at 12 John Street, in Huntsville. In 2011 Kim O’Grady shifted from a career in stretch pants to a career in real estate. On a very tight budget with absolutely no business attire, she had to build her wardrobe from the ground up and it took time. Lacking the confidence to put outfits together and the funds, she wished there was something that would offer women clothing options, without any stigma.
This is when the formation of Ms. Pearl began. She saw a need in our community to help women get back into the workforce by providing free gently worn business casual clothing. It took off, however, she lost the capacity for warehouse space so sadly Ms. Pearl could not continue.
Fast forward 11 years later, she saw an opportunity to start an online version of Ms.Pearl on Facebook. It needed a new name, so New 2 U Muskoka was born!
While the platform offered women a place to exchange clothing for free, there was still something missing. After collaborating with three like-minded businesswomen, Aimee Sinclair, Christina Carr, and Christine Elliott, the idea of a fashion show and shop event evolved, and now they are preparing to host the first New 2 U Muskoka “Sip, Show & Shop event” and they could not be more excited.
This event is all based on donations leading up to the evening of gently used women’s casual business attire. So ladies please check your closets. Excess clothing from the event will be donated to local charities. Any excess monetary proceeds will be donated to the YWCA of Muskoka. If you have any casual business attire you would like to donate, the collection starts September 25th and can be dropped off at the Chestnut Park Real Estate Office at 2-59 Main Street E in Huntsville or we could arrange for pick up. On the evening of October 12, soors open at 7 p.m., the fashion show starts sharp at 7:30 p.m. and shopping begins at 8 p.m.
During the event indulge in a variety of beverages including a complimentary Mocktail, nibble on charcuterie goodness, and be prepared for an evening focused on fellowship and FUN!
