Shoppers Drug Mart, Huntsville (by appointment only, do not enter the store if you have symptoms)
Visit www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/health-and-pharmacy/covid-19/testing to book an appointment. All booking is done online for tests and vaccines.
Testing and vaccination appointments are available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The store will be starting to provide take-home PCR tests next week and will NOT be doing any in-store symptomatic testing. They ask that anyone presenting with symptoms not enter the store for the safety of staff and other clients. Those looking for symptomatic PCR testing, who meet the criteria, should visit shoppersdrugmart.ca to fill in the documentation required for an appointment. The test will be brought out to your vehicle.
“We are overrun by the volume of phone calls and demand for services,” noted pharmacist and owner, Dana Murdy. “Like everyone at this time we do not have the extra personnel to do more. We still need to maintain our high standard of care for regular pharmacy services and we truly appreciate the patience of our clients.”
Other testing locations
Visit covid-19.ontario.ca/assessment-centre-locations but be sure to call the location first to confirm that they are providing testing and the hours when testing is available.
NOTE: Despite what the provincial testing website says for Huntsville, the Hometown IDA Drug Store DOES NOT provide COVID-19 testing.

It isn’t easy getting a Covid test either. A family member who resides south of here had to wait 3.5 days to get the test. He waited 4 days for the results!
Mr. Cliffe is right. It does make you wonder especially when you are looking towards the end of January for your own booster shot.
Hometown Pharmacy, picked up a few items, noticed it was a walk in service, was able to receive my booster shot within 1 hour.
I would have waited another 3 weeks for the same shot at the living center.
What is wrong with the provincial system in Huntsville? Lack of staff? Can’t find a building large enough?
Congrats to the staff at hometown and Mario the man of the hour!
Stay safe everyone!
THE VACCINE IS SO IMPORTANT FOR OUR CHILDREN AND BOOSTER SHOTS THAT THE INJECTION CENTRE IS CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS! WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE SUCH A FARCE??
