Muskoka’s clear bag curbside collection program kicks in March 3

From the Town of Huntsville

The District of Muskoka’s waste management services are making changes to extend the life of Muskoka’s only operating landfill. This program aims to encourage everyone to work diligently and make conscious decisions about what belongs in the trash – making a clear commitment to sustainable waste management.

This program is rolling out for curbside collection on March 3, 2025, and at waste facilities in 2026. To learn more, visit engagemuskoka.ca.

So the garbage collectors will police our garbage , if they see paper in your trash they won’t take it. So you have to route through your garbage and remove the offending item then ebay it and wait two weeks. But you will be over your limit, then what. It seems like more control over taxpayers.. While we are at it how much of ours blue box items are actually recycled?

I would like to know why a blue bag that is slightly tinted is not permitted for garbage anyone with half decent vision can see what’s in it . when the new rule goes into effect do I throw the tinted and an green bags into the recycling or garbage that I can no longer use ??

I would like to know what townfolk are to do with their green garbage bags. I have an abundance of green garbage bags and construction green /black bags?????? ? No one will answer that!!! Recycle is only 10% if that. There sre all kinds of plastics that are not recycleable and when we recyle they are put in garbage at recycle centers. A very small percentage is actually recycled. I do as im told and put all plastics, glass, and paper in recycle. I dont need to be policed by using clear bags. Its just a make greeners happy and make people think they are doing good for environment but its in vain.
