Some of the members of the Muskoka Music Mix chorus are incredibly excited to be part of InstaChoir’s newest project.
One of the largest virtual choirs ever assembled is celebrating our great country by performing our national anthem, O Canada. Scheduled to launch on July 1, Canada Day, the recording features more than 300 singers from all over Canada and around the world, ranging in age from nine to 80 years old!
“InstaChoir launched in 2019 to bring people together in person to build stronger communities and give anyone who loves to sing an opportunity to experience beautiful vocal harmony,” says Jordan Travis, founder and director of InstaChoir. “Most of us won’t be able to celebrate Canada Day the way we normally would this year, and we want to help people connect with each other. It is our hope that this virtual choir performance will bring all Canadians together, either as performers, or simply by enjoying our tribute to Canada.”
“Singing groups of all genres have not been able to sing together since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said James Mossman, VP of the Muskoka Music Mix. “We all enjoy singing together so much, it has been very disheartening not to be able to gather to raise our voices in song. Singing in a virtual chorus gives us at least part of that experience.”
InstaChoir’s virtual choir performance of O Canada will amaze you. For this project, individual singers recorded their parts in isolation and then technicians coordinated the audio and video, weaving them into a single recording. The result sounds as if choristers are singing together in person
InstaChoir is streaming this recording for everyone and we hope that it will be shared far and wide, not just on Canada Day, but whenever it is appropriate. Listening to this performance will make you proud to be Canadian!
