Muskoka man sentenced after threatening to hire hitman

A 20-year-old Huntsville man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to uttering threats.

Court heard that on Oct. 26, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police received a call from Kentucky State Police regarding threats being made through telecommunications.

Thomas White, 20, of Huntsville, and the victim had reportedly been friends online, but the relationship had deteriorated.

The court heard White threatened to hire a contract killer to murder the man and his wife. The threats were sent through text messages and included photos of a man White claimed he could hire to carry out the killings.

White pleaded guilty to threatening death and was handed a suspended sentence and 18 months’ probation.
