It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Milton Houle. Milt passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospice in his 89th year.
Milt grew up in Hamilton with his parents Herman and Hilda Houle and his siblings Herman Jr. (predeceased), Vivian (predeceased) and his cherished sister Georgina (Don Gater).
Straight out of high school, he apprenticed as a CNC machinist and started his career at Stelco.
Milt also wore many other hats …, builder of the best cottage ever, passionate moose hunter, former owner of Summerdale Cleaners, Rotarian, skilled furniture maker, obsessed firewood cutter/splitter and stacker and a lifelong, diehard Habs fan.
Through out his life, his wife Jean Anne of 64 years was by his side and his partner in every way. Milt would pick up Jean Anne in his “straight out of the showroom” – 57′ Ford Fairlane Convertable. They were married at Delta United Church in September 1960.
Together Milt and Jean Anne were blessed with two amazing daughters Suzanne (Don Baxter) and Michelle (Dave Carr). He loved being a dad. He was kind and patient and loved teaching his girls about everything in a fun and interesting way.
Milt had a way of embracing people and made lifelong bonds. He had so many good times with the Houles, Gators, Campbells and Wormalds, as well as so many life long friends whom he deeply treasured.
After so many years of hard work, Milt and Jean Anne retired to Lake Kashwakamak (home of the “Miltini”) where they lived the dream. Boating, waterskiing, fishing, ice fishing, and gatherings with family and friends…. “the more the merrier!”
“Poppie” was hands on, fun loving and created so many special memories with his grandkids, Christie, Billy, Milton and Grace.
Milts legacy lives on through his strong family values, hard work and kindness.
He will be missed.
A special thank you to: Muskoka Traditions, Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospice and Dr. Caroline Correia.
