As interest in outdoor recreation continues to grow, especially in Muskoka, being prepared for emergencies is an essential part of safe outdoor travel. MHO Adventures continues to offer its established Wilderness Medicine training courses this spring at its Huntsville base.
Best known for its guided canoe expeditions across Ontario, Québec, and the Arctic, MHO Adventures also delivers a wide range of training programs. Including ORCKA courses, Paddle Canada certifications, expedition food training, custom training, and River Roots, a 42-day guide training and leadership development program.
As a Licensed Training Provider with Wilderness Medical Associates International, MHO Adventures offers internationally recognized certification courses both in Huntsville and through private group training.
A two-day Wilderness First Aid course is scheduled May 2–3 at the Huntsville location. The course is designed for anyone who spends time outdoors, from personal paddlers and hikers to teachers, park staff, camp staff, and anyone with a general interest.
Participants will learn how to assess patients, recognize medical emergencies, and provide care in remote settings where access to professional help may be delayed. The course emphasizes hands-on, scenario-based learning to build confidence in real-world situations.
For those looking to expand their skills, MHO Adventures also offers more advanced options, including a 40-hour Wilderness Advanced First Aid course and an 80-hour Wilderness First Responder program.
With more people venturing into the outdoors year-round, the importance of wilderness medical training continues to grow. Being equipped with wilderness first aid skills is both practical and valuable, helping individuals travel more safely and respond effectively when it matters most, whether on a solo weekend canoe trip or enjoying the wilderness with friends and family.
More information, including registration details, is available through the MHO Adventures website.
