The Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club (ANSC) is thrilled to receive a generous $3000 donation from the Men of Grandview golf club. This contribution will provide financial assistance to children eager to learn Nordic skiing, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.
The donation will be used to help families either acquire the necessary ski equipment or register their children in the club’s youth programs:
- JackRabbits and BunnyRabbits (ages 4–9): Beginner-friendly programs focused on “FUNdamentals, and enjoyment on skis.
- Track Attack and Lynx (ages 10–12): Intermediate programs for both seasoned skiers (Track Attack) and for older youth starting skiing (Lynx)
- Arrowhead Race Crew (ARC, ages 13–18): A competitive program for teens who want to train seriously and participate in races.

The ski club has two initiatives already in place so that these funds can be put to use immediately:
- Kids’ Bursary Program: Provides assistance to families in need. Parents may apply for the bursary to cover the cost of lessons, park fees, and ski rentals for the winter.
- ANSC Rental Program: Initiated by board member Terry Graham and his wife, Ally Myers, this program has been running for four years. With very limited funds, Terry has developed the art of scrounging to build a collection of Nordic skis, boots, and poles available to participants for just $60 per season. Once rented, children take the equipment home for the winter, giving them full access between lessons and making skiing more affordable for families. The program serves about 110 children and makes Nordic skiing much more affordable for families. “We still run out of equipment and can’t supply everyone,” he laments. “Every year, we run out of specific sizes of skis or boots. This grant will help us to fill those gaps and purchase new equipment.”
This Men of Grandview’s contribution reflects their commitment to fostering healthy, active lifestyles and supporting local youth. By easing the financial commitment, the Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club can welcome more children into its programs, ensuring skiing remains accessible and inclusive.

“Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club is truly grateful for the generous donation from the Men of Grandview to support our childrens’ learn to ski program,” states ANSC president, Ken Parsons. ”This donation will make a meaningful difference for families in our community and help us grow the next generation of Nordic skiers.”

“fostering healthy, active lifestyles and supporting local youth” Bravo! Action fulfilling their words – a lovely and refreshing story. Well done.
Case in point: my son started with Jack (or was it Bunny) Rabbit at Arrowhead and thirty years later is skiing up in way cold Yellowknife. Thanks to those kids who were working to introduce the lifelong active enjoyment.
