Mayor Alcock releases statement regarding MPP Grewal’s visit to Huntsville

“I was deeply saddened to learn that an MPP visiting Huntsville with his family was met with racist rhetoric along our Main Street. I have reached out to MPP Grewal to express my sincere apologies on behalf of the Town and Council. While the racism that individual displayed does not reflect the values I know to be held by many in this community, it was the experience MPP Grewal had. It is important that we speak out when events like this happen, so that hate does not win.” — Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock

If I may clarify that it was not an individual but 2 people uttering slurs they should be held accountable for their actions. In this town it only takes minutes before we know who is doing what lol!! so these 2 people should be named & shamed for what they did to this family.

I too was deeply saddened and embarrassed for our town! Thank you for reaching out Mayor Alcock!

Well said Mayor Alcock! Thank you for taking the stand that I hope will be fully realized and followed by Huntsville’s citizenry. Indeed, our town is immensely better than the racist rhetoric spewed by this uncaring individual. May we all heed your words, Mayor Alcock.
