A local business just got a little bit bigger in a lovely way. Massage Works, which opened for business in 2005, celebrated the launch of their new division, Spa Works, at a party on January 30.

Owner Kristin Adams said it was time to take on a new challenge. With the addition of Spa Works, Massage Works clients can now get all of their pampering in one place. “It’s a private setting where you can get a hot stone massage with a pedicure and hot towel wrap, for example,” said Adams.

“We’ve only ever provided Registered Massage Therapy,” she added, “but we got asked quite often for esthetic services. On November 1, we started offering reflexology, manicures, pedicures, and facials, and we now carry an all-natural product line, Naturopathica. I did a lot of research to find just the right product – if I wouldn’t put it on my daughters, I wouldn’t offer it to our clients.”

Attendees at the celebration were treated to decadent treats and equally decadent facials courtesy of new Spa Works esthetician Gwynneth Moore, who is excited to be working with Naturopathica, too. “People are looking for products without chemicals and we can really customize this line to a client’s skin type. It’s a high quality product that’s great for anyone but especially an aging population or to help repair sun damage.”

Author Angela Urquhart, author of Dramatically Zen, joined the party to talk about her book and her life-changing trip to Thailand, Australia and Bali after, within a few months’ time, her parents separated, her dad had a heart attack, her beloved Nonno passed away, and she lost her job. “I want to give people the creative push to get from where they are to where they want to be.”

Mayor Scott Aitchison was also on hand to help officially launch Spa Works with a ribbon cutting ceremony. He applauded the business’s growth and commitment to quality.

Adams is able to offer the new services thanks to a treatment room left empty by one of Massage Works’ RMTs who is away doing osteopathy training. She’ll be adding more space – and more treatment – rooms in the future to accommodate her growing business, including plans for a new building. “We’re gaining momentum,” she said. “It’s been a learning curve but it’s been a great one.”

Excellent service and high quality products has been my experience at Spa Works. I am from out of town, but when I am in Huntsville, I always make time for a massage, manicure, pedicure, facial etc. – so relaxing.

They are located at 365 Muskoka Road # 3 North- the street across from the hospital.
