A Windsor man who posed online as a child in an effort to catch predators pled guilty recently to harassing a Bracebridge man.
Sami Kadri, 40, pled guilty to criminal harassment stemming from a series of incidents that occurred in December of 2023.
Court heard Kadri had been pretending to be a 13-year-old girl online when he engaged in a series of explicit online conversations with a 33-year-old Bracebridge man. The Bracebridge man ultimately sent nude photos and asked for similar photos in return.
On Dec. 15, 2023, Bracebridge OPP received a call from a complainant who said he had been confronted by a man he did not know at the Bracebridge Library. The suspect, later identified as Kadri, had shoved the caller and yelled at him.
Court heard Kadri also went to the man’s house and circled it several times.
Kadri was arrested for criminal harassment. The other man ultimately pled guilty to child luring.
Kadri apologized to the court but said he thought what he was doing was legal and had even received some praise for his work from police officers.
He was given a suspended sentence and 18 months of probation.
