Man caught stealing 53 fishing lures from Canadian Tire

A 56-year-old man has been sentenced after admitting to stealing more than $1,000 worth of fishing lures from a Huntsville store.

Randy Greenside pleaded guilty recently in a Bracebridge courtroom to theft under $5,000 and failing to attend court.

The court heard that on Nov. 6, 2022, Greenside was at a local Canadian Tire store when he placed 53 fishing lures, valued at $1,054, inside his coat.

Store staff confronted him and asked him to return the merchandise, but he fled the store. He was later located by police hiding in a nearby backyard.

Greenside subsequently failed to appear in court to deal with the charges.

The court also heard that he has a prior criminal record.

He was sentenced to 30 days in custody, with credit for time already served, followed by 12 months of probation.

The man stole stuff in 2022 and it gets dealt with in 2026?? That is more of a problem than the crime!!
The so called justice system is a very big joke!!
