Major winter storm warning continues

Environment and Climate Change Canada is warning of a ‘highly impactful’ winter storm this Wednesday evening into Thursday, impacting areas including Muskoka and Almaguin.

Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are anticipated.
Peak snowfall rates possibly exceeding 5 cm per hour.
Poor visibility in heavy snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall tonight into Thursday morning.

This winter storm will impact the Thursday morning commute. Snow is expected to gradually taper off Thursday afternoon.

Recommended Action

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
