When the Huntsville Community Choir takes to the stage for their annual Christmas concert it will be with a new Director at the helm. When “Christmas Magic” begins on Friday, December 2 at Trinity United Church, it will be directed by the choir’s founding conductor. Louis Tusz was the first to direct the choir when it was formed in 1989 and now rejoins the group as they head into their 28th season.
We are thrilled to have Louis back with us and he has been working us hard as we get ready for the Christmas season. Any time you have a new Director, it makes for a new way of learning how to do things, understanding new hand gestures, teaching techniques and personality. Louis has risen to the challenge and has become instantly devoted to his task at hand.
Huntsville Community Choir president John Riedl
The choir’s Christmas concert is an anticipated annual event in the community, helping to kick off the holiday season. This year is no exception, with songs guaranteed to please an audience of any age that range from Classical, Traditional, and Modern to, well….a Christmas song about King Kong?
Guests at this year’s concert will include two recent recipients of the choir’s Albert E. Furtney Scholarship program – Josie Robinson and Briar Summers, two talented young ladies who have already made their presences known in a variety of local musicals including Shrek, Seussical, and The Wizard of Oz. The choir is also welcoming, for the first time, the Huntsville High School Brass Ensemble.
Tickets for this show are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for students and children under 12 are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at Treasures and Trophies and a limited number will be available at the door. Concert times are Friday, December 2 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, December 3 at 3:00 pm. at Trinity United Church.

Great news that Louis is back as director of the Huntsville Choir. I recall when he did this many years ago. He is truly a great musician with a terrific family. Huntsville is fortunate to have the Tusz family in its midst!
