Does anyone know anything about the Lakonia Restaurant and Submarine shop, once located in downtown Huntsville beside Town Hall?
Based on the vehicle in the foreground, this photo was likely taken between 1979 and 1981.
The name “Lakonia” (or Laconia) refers to the historic region of southern Greece, with modern Sparta as its capital, so the restaurant was probably Greek-owned.

This was a great restaurant loved going here when Jimmy P. owned and then Louis & Barb P had it, always great food great portions and the Subs were awesome and staff were always friendly.
While running a summer drop in sports experience out of HHS back in 1975-76 I would often phone in sub orders for pick up. No uber back then so I would have to go and pick up order. Always busy and packed with patrons. There was a long counter with those wonderful stools that spun around. Wait staff always friendly & cheerful. Parking was at a premium.
