Township of Lake of Bays staff were excited to see their community’s response when they put out a call to help them with a toy drive for families in need.
In the past, staff and council have contributed toys for the Salvation Army to distribute at Christmas. This year organizer Linda Pinkerton suggested that they invite the Lake of Bays community to participate, too, and create a mountain of toys.
The toys were collected at the municipal office in Dwight and at the Baysville Library — 154 in all.
“Our goal was 100,” says Pinkerton, adding that staff are delighted that the community stepped up in such a big way. She dropped the toys off at the Salvation Army this morning.
“They were thrilled,” says Pinkerton. “They had staff there to help us unload and they are thrilled with how far it will go (to help families).”
