Knife incident, break-ins and court breaches land Huntsville man back behind bars

A Huntsville man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a series of offences spanning more than a year.

Easton Childerhose, 23, appeared recently in a Bracebridge courtroom, where he admitted to multiple charges dating back to March 2024. The convictions included break and enter, theft, assaulting a police officer, choking, carrying a weapon and breaching several court orders.

Court heard that on March 12, 2024, Ontario Provincial Police were called to a reported break and enter at Westside Fish and Chips in Huntsville. Surveillance video showed two men entering the business and stealing approximately $4,000 from the cash till and a safe. Police later received information from a member of the public who identified Childerhose and another man as being responsible for the break-in, as well as for similar incidents in the area.

In June 2024, Childerhose was involved in an altercation that prompted another police response. Officers were told he was in the company of an individual he was prohibited from associating with under existing court orders.

Later that same month, police were called to a disturbance at the Dollarama store in Huntsville. Court heard Childerhose was inside the store carrying a 7.5-inch knife, causing several people to flee out of concern for their safety. A woman recognized him, and he was captured on CCTV footage. He was arrested nearby. During the arrest, Childerhose spat on one of the officers.

The court also heard that on July 29, 2025, OPP were contacted after Childerhose tampered with his ankle monitor, breaching his release conditions.

Childerhose has a prior criminal record, the court was told.

He was sentenced to 141 days served in pre-trial custody, followed by an additional 224 days in custody. He will also be placed on probation for two years following his release, subject to conditions set by the court.

I am sure he has an interesting life story. Only 23 and establishing a knife wielding record. wonder if he will be placed in a higher security facility that may have better access to rehabilitation programs and opportunity but also meet new friends with other life skills, experiences and connections.(not necessarily all smart new friends as they also got caught) supposedly after age 24, brain development may improve ability to assess actions and consequences. Christmas in prison may be not so jolly. Tough for his mom and other loved ones.

All of these comments fall short as they forgot to mention the mandatory letter that this moron got from the court asking him to please not do this again or he will be given a more sternly worded letter pleading with him not to do this again.
It’s not the last time we are going to hear from him, mark my word.

It boggles the mind that this person consistently flaunts the law. Give him a one way ticket to a war torn country to see just how bad it can get. Maybe he would see the error of his ways.

Our judiciary does not give repeat offenders the necessary time in correctional institutions to get corrected before they are sent back into the society. Being unreasonably lenient they, the judiciary, are not serving well the public , the police , nor the offenders. In fact, time and resources are wasted by letting criminals wander about in the world for which these repeat offenders are obviously not equipped to live in and need sufficient time in correctional facility to be corrected.

When are judges going to give repeat felons meaningful sentences to serial Felons . Rehabilitation is obviously not going to work with this bad actor, so perhaps a 5 year stint to protect the public !!
